Do I have to have my brake fluid changed every 1-2 years? |
|
Q: Do I have to have my brake fluid changed every 1-2 years? A: Yes, not many car owners are aware of the dangers of ignoring brake fluid changes. Contaminated brake fluid (typically due to moisture absorbtion) leads to the boiling point of the brake fluid reducing significantly over time. Fresh brake fluid has a resistance to boiling to approximately 260°C, and contaminated brake fluid has anything down to 100°C boiling point. Braking with this level of contaminant often ends in a failure of the braking system, where it could have been prevented. We Measure the boiling point of your brake fluid at every service, however if you have any concerns, we will measure it at any time, subject to the the car being suitable for our equipment. If you have a question or concern that is not answered here, please do not hesitate in contacting us!
